The Glema Center offers a variety of opportunities to be part of the local arts community!

MCC Singers
The MCC Singers is a community choral ensemble open to singers in high school and up. The group presents two concerts at the Glema Center each year: one during the Christmas season and one during the spring. Regular rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at 5:30 on the campus of Madisonville Community College. To learn more about joining the MCC Singers, contact Toby Roberts at 270-821-2787 or email Toby.Roberts@kctcs.edu.

Community Theatre
The Glema Center presents two community theatre productions each season. The 2024-25 shows are Blithe Spirit (February) and The Sound of Music (July). Audition information–including dates and times, character descriptions, age requirements, and audition materials–will be announced on the center’s website and social media pages.

The summer 2024 community theatre production was Into The Woods.

Dance
For years, the Glema Center has worked with the Children’s Center for Dance Education to periodically bring their company to perform in Madisonville, filling out the show’s cast with local dancers. During the 2024-25 Season, CCDE is performing The Children’s Nutcracker on December 5. Auditions for local dancers ages 4 and up will be Sunday, September 29 at the Glema Center. Click here for complete audition information for The Children’s Nutcracker!

Juried Art & Juried Photography Exhibits
The Glema Center regularly presents Juried Art & Juried Photography Exhibits in the Anne P. Baker Gallery. A call for entries will be announced on the center’s website and social media pages.

The 2023 Juried Art & Juried Photography exhibits were comprised of more than 90 pieces by regional artists.

Workshops
The Glema Center sometimes offers arts-related workshops in conjunction with a visiting artist’s main performance. Workshops may be designated for a particular school group, or may be open to the public. These workshops are sometimes added during the season, so check back periodically for updates about programs that may have a workshop. Click the “Workshops” heading for information about any upcoming scheduled workshops.

Volunteer
If you are a community-minded individual who would like to volunteer your time as an usher, docent, or clerical worker, call 270-821-2787, email Misti.Hodges@kctcs.edu, or visit the office during regular business hours.

Community arts opportunities vary from season to season and are announced as they are confirmed. The best way to stay informed is to check the website regularly or follow the Glema Center on Facebook or Instagram.
